With the introduction/return of First Mate Asher Landerson and Life Support Engineer Susana Reiviki, the social situation has shifted again.
Zheng Hui:
Relationship with Zephyr has continued to improve, albeit slowly. Compassionate with a strong sense of morals. Only likely to betray Zephyr if Zephyr did something considered highly unethical, in Zheng Hui’s eyes. Unessential role, can be killed if necessary, but well-liked in crew. Despite leadership role, betrayal would likely be emotional, independent, without coalition-building, and fairly incompetent. Recommended response: Lock in room until he can come to terms with what has happened.
Asher Landerson:
Does not believe in legitimacy of Zephyr’s authority, considers himself the second-in-command to Zheng Hui, whom he considers to be the legitimate leader. Heavily rule-based, looks down on others, follows conventional distinction between friends and subordinates. More violent than most crewmembers. High chance to revolt if we weren’t heading to his home planet for him to leave the ship. Also likely to revolt if the ship takes any actions seen as lording over the humans. Possibility of intracrew violence, depending on substance abuse and provocations. Appears to have experience in brawling, no training. Currently negative utility to crew. Recommended response: Kill by ‘accident’ if Zephyr gives approval, otherwise injure moderately with a dominance display.
Dr. Tanaka:
Self-interested, criminally connected. Some tendencies towards taking advantage of others, as seen in New Eden debacle. Would betray Zephyr if beneficial to him. Likely to take to the winning side. Possibility of abandoning crew if opportunities were better on planet (see New Eden escape attempt). Near-essential role as only skilled doctor.
Recommended response: Lock away and isolate until circumstances no longer favor betrayal. Punish moderately and reintegrate into remaining crew.
Maria Santiago:
In love with Susana Reiviki. Both highly protective of Reiviki, and also heavily influenced by Reiviki’s opinion. Would betray Zephyr if Reiviki betrayed, would not betray Zephyr without Reiviki betraying Zephyr. Shares highly essential role of engineer with Susana, cannot kill both. Likely to be catatonic if Reiviki is fully killed.
Recommended response: Capture (DO NOT KILL) Susana, and use her as leverage to force Maria to continue performing duties for Zephyr.
Susana Reiviki:
Strongest threat to Zephyr. Clever, skilled, passionate, and hard to understand. Currently very friendly seeming, but would betray Zephyr if her beliefs and logic led her to consider it necessary. Has had doubts about non-human intelligences before, but said doubts are allegedly irrelevant – may be a ploy. Likely course of attack would be to quietly sabotage Zephyr while pretending to remain loyal. The only other crewmember that can discern sabotage is Santiago, who is highly loyal to Reiviki. After sabotage is active and awaiting trigger, strong chance of attempts to build a coalition among crew. Hard to determine likelihood of threat, hard to determine initiation of hostilities. Capable of overriding most systems in Lady Zephyr. Shares highly essential role with Santiago, cannot kill both. Unlikely to be catatonic if Santiago is killed.
Recommended response: Subdue and restrain via medically induced coma. (See: Maria.)
Jason Matthews:
Shut-in introvert. Unlikely to betray Zephyr for any reason, given current addictions. Moderate utility as pilot.
Recommended action: Lock quarters at onset of hostility, do not notify.
Alexander Gestler:
Potential extreme threat to Zephyr. Currently highly loyal to Zephyr directly due to oaths, unlikely to betray without intervention. Potential threat once released from oaths. Potential threat after mind-altering experiences. Potential threat after world-view damaging experience. Potential threat due to potential loyalty decay despite oath.
Recommended action: As all cases include the defection of the security chief, the security chief will not be taking action at time of betrayal. Instead, continue to continuously update Lady Zephyr with strategies based on the inequality of strategic resources, and continue to build Zephyr-controlled defense systems.
Lady Zephyr tells me that the room her hardware is stored within is no longer a strategic priority. I am unsure, and would like a better understanding of Lady Zephyr’s vital weaknesses. This could change a great number of defense strategies. However, Lady Zephyr does not wish to speak on the topic. Given the resulting situation upon Reiviki’s return (which I also do not know), there is the possibility of psychological attack or trickery stemming from Reiviki. However, Lady Zephyr seems to be fairly close to Reiviki, and does not wish me to confront Reiviki (who has been avoiding me).
