Jason Matthews: “I’m free. Doctor, how do I help you?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Apply… apply direct pressure.”
Maria Santiago: “Untie us first.”
Dr. Tanaka: “Yes… free the others. They can… help. Damn this hurts.”
Astral Zephyr: “Nobody has any objections to me slowly venting the cargo bay of air, I hope?”
Santiago: “Only that they don’t suffer more.”
Zheng Hui: “Okay, apply direct pressure?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Fold the skin back up, and use your shirt on that. Aaaaaaaaaaaah! No don’t stop!”
Zheng: “Are you sure?”
Dr. Tanaka: “I… I am starting to suspect that… ah… that the man had tortured people before. Damn…”
Santiago: “Doctor! Susana isn’t breathing!”
Dr. Tanaka: “She’s… clinically dead.”
Santiago: “You lie! No, no she can’t be dead, you said she was okay.”
Dr. Tanaka: “I lied, I didn’t want anyone to do anything… aaaah!”
Zheng: “Off! Jason, hold her!”
Dr. Tanaka: “Damn you too, Maria!”
Zheng: “You said clinically dead. Can she be brought back?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Maybe. More likely if people didn’t assault me.”
Santiago: “Then heal her, don’t just lie there.”
Dr. Tanaka: “I’m kinda hurt too, you know. Damned man started skinning me alive.”
Zheng: “Doctor, can we help her.”
Dr. Tanaka: “I stopped the bleeding, but she went into shock from blood loss. She needs a blood trans… hm. Jason, Maria: Get my medical bags and bring them here. Run.”
Zephyr: “Doctor, should Zheng perform chest compressions?”
Dr. Tanaka: “There’s not enough blood to matter.”
Zephyr: “I know what’s in your bag. You’re going to--.”
Dr. Tanaka: “I’m going to have Jason check the bodies in the cargo bay, and we are going to borrow some blood from whoever matches. I hope it’s that bastard Clark.”
Zephyr: “There are oxygen masks nearby. I’m going to depressurize and deoxygenate the cargo bay – what level should I use to keep them unconscious but not dead?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Ask Susana. I never deal with that on Tien Terra.”
Zheng: “Is it right to take blood from them?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Seems fair to me. They took blood from us first.”
Zheng: “Very well.”
Zephyr: “We are going to have to land on Arcadia again to pick up food, or we are going to have to head back to Tien Terra after our next planet. I might be a bit distracted by landing myself. Have Jason help you, I’ll manage.”
Dr. Tanaka: “There’s a town to the west of Whitevale. Land on the west side of that.”
Zephyr: “I was going to avoid Whitevale.”
Dr. Tanaka: “Harry Whitevale’s brother lives there. The one Harry compared to the captain. And we have something to trade him.”
Zephyr: “Very well – at least it’s closer.”
Santiago: “We’re back!”
Dr. Tanaka: “Drag me, Landerson, and Reiviki into the next room. Jason, take one of those oxygen masks, and then open my blue bag.”
Matthews: “What am I looking for?”
Dr. Tanaka: “It looks like a… just bring the bag next to me. Prop me up? That one there. Just press it against their skin, and it will work.”
Matthews: “Their skin?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Our invaders. Reiviki has B+ blood. Press that thing on all the people there, and if it says “B+” or “O+” drag the body in. Ignore the other numbers.”
Santiago: “What should I do?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Go to your supplies, get a pump.”
Jason: “I’m back.”
Dr. Tanaka: “Fast. Where’s the body?”
Jason: “Your machine is broken. It says AB+ on all of them.”
Dr. Tanaka: “Maria, get back, change of plans.”
Santiago: “What?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Damn people fixed their leaders to accept any kind of blood, but none of their blood will work for Susana.”
Santiago: “Some blood is better than no blood! I could give blood!”
Dr. Tanaka: “Won’t work in the long run, and… nevermind. Red bag, spill it all out. Use that roll there to wrap my skin on. Jason, you seem calm, are you squeamish?”
Jason: “No? What am I going to be doing?”
Dr. Tanaka: “I have a funny history. Captain, have Maria help you dump our guests into our storage boxes. Tie up Whitevale and Clark. Don’t let her or anyone come in here, I don’t want interruptions. Take Landerson with you.”
Santiago: “What are you going to do?”
Dr. Tanaka: “Today? My specialty. And this time to save a life. Now leave us.”
